How does an individual influence a community? How does a community influence the individual?

In the Ibo society, an individual bears the integrity of the entire community, for if one citizen does something wrong, such as the killing of a Umuofian daughter by a Mbaino citizen, the whole community must be punished. The village of Mbaino had to choose between war or an offering of a boy and a virgin. This places much pressure on individuals. Furthermore, in Ibo society everyone has to believe in superstitions, an example of the rules individuals must follow. If they do not follow these rules, they could be exiled, displaying how a community influences an individual. The people in Ibo society work together as one, eliminating individuality. If someone is not a warrior, they are not accepted, further exemplifying the laws and pressure Ibo society has put on the people, once again, eliminating individuality. Although the community does work as a whole, each individual can make their own actions and choices, it will just result in an impact on the community as a whole.
